Disaster Management Exercise Workshop with ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance

On March 24-26, 2014, in Jakarta, Indonesia, DP&R supported the Center For Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DMHA) in a highly-successful exercise planning workshop for members of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre). The Workshop provided instruction and practical exercises to build capability in the staff to design, develop, and execute Staff and Table Top Exercises.
DP&R provided subject matter expertise to this 3-day Workshop, which was designed to present a comprehensive and holistic approach to instructing principles and methods of exercise design and development. DP&R assisted in providing instruction on the type of exercises, exercise planning lifecycle, evaluation and after action review methods and planning. The 25-person participant group performed a number of practical exercises, putting the theories and principles to practice. The Workshop concluded with a culminating practical exercise to develop a comprehensive exercise plan for a Table Top Exercise that could be conducted at the AHA Centre, which the AHA Centre Executive Director, Said Faisal, praised as “simply excellent!”
